New Zealand CitizenCheck 2026
Privacy policy for the mobile app by Aptagon Technologies. Last updated 2 October 2026. Contact: hello@aptagon.com
What we collect
Nothing. The app has no account, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting and no third-party tracking. Aptagon Technologies does not receive, store or have access to any information you enter.
What stays on your device
The answers you give (such as dates, trips and your replies to the character questions), your practice results and your journey dates are stored on your device only, so you can return to them. They are encrypted (AES-256-GCM, or XSalsa20-Poly1305 where the system does not provide AES-GCM to the app) with a key held in your device's secure storage: the Android Keystore or the iOS Keychain.
On Android, the app's data is excluded from cloud backup and from device-to-device transfer, and it is removed when you uninstall the app. On iOS, the encrypted data and its key can be included in your device backups (iCloud or computer), which are tied to your Apple account; Aptagon Technologies cannot read them. On iOS the key can remain in the Keychain after you uninstall the app; use "Delete all my data" before uninstalling to remove it.
Network use
The app works offline and sends no information anywhere. Tapping a link to an official website (for example govt.nz) opens it in your browser; that website's own privacy policy then applies.
Deleting your data
Open More, then Delete all my data. This removes every answer and result and the encryption key.
Children
The app is a general information tool and is not directed at children. It collects no information from anyone.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal information about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on our side. This approach is designed to meet the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and the GDPR.
Not government, not advice
New Zealand CitizenCheck 2026 is an independent app by Aptagon Technologies. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the New Zealand Government, the Department of Internal Affairs or Immigration New Zealand. It gives general information from published rules; it is not legal or immigration advice and does not predict the Minister's decision.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new date.
